An expression is really a set of terms either being added or subtracted,etc. Without an equal sign being present.
ReplyDeleteAn equation is a set of expression with a combination of mathematical signs and an equal sign.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between an expression and an equation is that an expression has no equal sign while an equation has.
ReplyDeleteis this an example? diplomat
ReplyDelete100+50=150 of an equation
an the expression would be like : the sum of 100figs and 50figs are 150figs
ReplyDeleteAn expression is when you have two numbers or letters.
ReplyDeleteexpressions can be any combinations of constants or variables
ReplyDeleteExpression aid with simplifying
ReplyDeleteAn equation is in fact expression with an equal sign
ReplyDeleteyea the equation and expression lead to the same solution
ReplyDeleteIs an expression just a worded version of an equation? Wouldn't they be the same thing then?
ReplyDeleteIn mathematics, the word expression is a term for any well-formed combination of mathematical symbols. For example,

An equation is a mathematical statement, that shows two things are equivalent to something else. Equations are written with an equal sign, as in
2 + 4x = 10
you should be able to tell the difference right?
simply put i think the main difference between the expression and equation is that the equation is different expressions linked my equal signs (=)...
ReplyDeleteto examine equations and expressions:
ReplyDelete3x + 2 is an expression (no =).
11 is also and expression.
however 3x + 2= 11 is an equation (presence of=).
as you can see the equation linked the two expressions. i think that thats wat the equations do...they link expressions that are equal in value. i also believe that to be called an equation there must be atleast one variable...im not sure if im right...and from the equation you can find the value of the variable.
3x + 2 is equal in value to 11 since the unknown, x represents the number 3...
this was found by solving the equation:
3x + 2= 11
3x = 11 - 2
3x = 9
x = 9/3
x = 3
:D
Expression can be used to simplify
ReplyDeleteAn expression can be explained in mathematics as a group of symbols that make up a mathematical symbol.
ReplyDeleteexpressions are necessary to produce values for a specific value.
ReplyDeleteAn equation is a mathematical sentence of equality between two expressions.
ReplyDeletedifference between expression and equation is that expression can be intangible but equation is not
